City On A Hill

Our Vision & Mission

We are a missional church and we spread the cause of Jesus in three ways...

The Cause

Radical
Jesus said the following, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment.” (Matthew 22:37-38, ESV) Through His perfect life, sacrificial death on the cross and bodily resurrection, Jesus makes this love and this radical lifestyle available to us. At City on a Hill, we won’t emphasize self-worth, self-actualization or even the pursuit of personal prosperity. Instead, in Jesus’ strength, we seek to make God the center of attention in our lives. We live radically.

Relational
Jesus also said this in the very same context, “And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:30-40, ESV) In very much the same way, through His finished work on the cross and His victorious resurrection, Jesus makes it possible for us to really love others. At City on a Hill, we live in community by sharing our burdens and celebrating our joys together. We live in love. We live relationally.

Relevant
Jesus gave these instructions to His followers, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19-20, ESV) The word “relevant” is defined as “pertinent to the matter at hand”. Relevance has very little to do with music styles or marketing or popular trends. Instead, it means that we are committed to bringing pertinent relief to the most significant and global issue at hand, the human condition of estrangement from God. We do this by serving the whole person while communicating the complete gospel in a culturally contextualized way. In this meaning, we live to be relevant.
