You can also listen to teachings from the Sunday Gathering.

MISSIO DEI
Romans

No other book of the bible is more God-centered than Romans.

Over the past months we have unpacked God’s plan to reconcile people to Himself through the good news of Jesus and how He involves us in the process.

You can listen to teachings from Missio Dei.

Changes to Misseo Dei

Missio Dei is a Latin phrase meaning “Mission of God”. At City on a Hill, we believe that all followers of Jesus are missionaries. Jesus makes this clear in John 20:21 as he says, “As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you”. Missio Dei is where we train and equip members of City on a Hill to be missionaries in their homes, workplaces and neighborhoods.

Over the past several months, Misseo Dei has simply been a study through the books of Genesis ans Romans. We are now moving forward to make Misseo Dei more of a training ground for our people to become missionaries.

Missio Dei will be both interactive and integrated. Interactive in that we will focus on learning the bible rather than simply teaching it. Integrated in that all age groups will be studying the same concepts so that families and friends can share together what they are learning.

Join us on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8 as we learn how to be on mission with God. Being on mission with God begins with being a worshipper of Jesus. That is just where our first track will begin on October 1st. We will study from Scripture all that God has done for us in Jesus to make us people who radically worship Him, the very people He created us to be.

If you are interested in joining our first Misseo Dei track on Oct 1st, please fill out the information on our sign up page.

Sola Gratia

Recorded on: December 21, 2008 | Speaker: Dave Bruskas

Sola gratia, latin for “grace alone”, was one of the signature beliefs of the Protestant Reformation. The conversion of Saul in Acts 9 illustrates sola gratia. Although Saul’s experience was dramatic, it is hardly unique. It is the story of how all people come to know Jesus.

Conversion

Wayne Grudem defines conversion as “our willing response to the gospel call, in which we sincerely repent of sins and place our trust in Christ for salvation” (Systematic Theology, p. 1238). In Acts 8:26-40, we have a front row seat to the roadside conversion of a high ranking government official. In this powerful story, we see the basic elements of personal faith revealed.

Jesus Sensitive Church

Recorded on: December 7, 2008 | Speaker: Dave Bruskas

A common philosophy of church developed over the last decades has been labeled “seeker sensitive church”. The concept is that expressions in public worship should be focused on those who believe in Jesus while being sensitive in style and substance to the unbelievers who are present. I am saddened to say that much of contemporary Christianity treats Jesus in the same manner.
